Usually, all pay line wins are multiplied by the amount bet per line. This means that if a symbol pays out 1,000 coins for five like symbols and the player is betting 3 coins per pay line, the payout will be 3,000 coins. Simple math really.
Multiple pay line wins with the same symbols will both payout. Any winning combinations will be paid to the player as long as the wins are on separate active pay lines. Only the highest win in any pay line will be paid. For example, if five like symbols appear in the 3rd pay line, the player will only be paid for the 5 symbols and not the 3, or 4 symbol payouts.
Players need not play all pay lines in the game. Usually, games will allow players to decrease the number of pay lines. Players many want to do this to preserve their bankroll, increase the payouts with the same number of coins bet etc. It’s basically a preference, but some slots only have fixed pay lines that cannot be changed. These are usually the newer released games.

Scatters, Wilds, and Bonus Features:
Scatter symbols are symbols on most slot machines today that do not need to appear in a consecutive manner or in an active pay line to payout. They can be in any position on the reels, and if there are scatter pays in the game the pay will usually be your total be multiplied. How much it’s multiplied by depends on the amount of scatter icons that triggered the payout. For an example, if a slot game requires two scatter symbols for scatter pays then those icons can land anywhere on the reels and you will receive winnings.
Also, scatter wins are added to other wins that happen in the same spin. Most of the time, only the highest win will be paid out to the player. Scatters are an exception so all wins AND the scatter will usually be paid.
Slot games will usually have a “Wild” symbol. These symbols are excellent for assisting in winning combinations. Wilds will usually substitute for all of the other symbols on the reels besides bonus symbols, and scatters. There are different kinds of wild symbols, and there are even some that cover the entire reel of the slot, those are called expanding wilds.
